Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has explained how Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen can become an extraordinary striker.
Osimhen was on target again for Napoli as he netted the decisive goal in the 1-0 win away to AS Roma.
With 10 minutes left to play, Osimhen outmuscled former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling before volleying from a tight angle.
He has now scored in three consecutive games and has taken his tally for the league season to three goals.
And commenting on Osimhen, Spalletti told DAZN:“Osimhen has these sudden change of pace that only he can do. When he gets his emotions sorted out, he will become extraordinary.
“At times he tries to do everything himself, attacks the ball and the goal without realising where his teammates are. But he is physical, he is strong and we need him to complete the squad, also in the air.
“He is one of the best headers of the ball I have ever seen. We didn’t give him as much service last season, but he was also decisive when defending on set plays and resolving a lot of issues for us there.”
Napoli remain top on the log ahead of Serie A champions AC Milan.

Osihmen has scored in three straight games after returning from injury. Before the injury he had scored 2 or more. So his total goals for the league cannot be 3 . CSN pls gets your facts right before publishing
You are right bro, he has scored 4 goals in Seria A and 1 goal in Champions league so far this season. CSN sometimes dey sleep and fond of poor editing
Mr Coach, talk to your selfish midfielders.
So Mr spalletti you know that osimhen’s team mates didn’t supply him the ball last season?…… thank God you realize that…., at least the solution to a problem start with acknowledgement of the problem itself…… osimhen’s runs and change of pace should be used to the fullest…..His runs will not only bring goals but also prevent opponents from playing a high line against Napoli…….Tell Kwarakhiela to stop dribbling to the goal himself and to start looking up to see his striker…….Tell lozano and politano to always cross the ball as osimhen is wonderful in the air…….Tell Anguisa lobotka zielinski and Ndobele to always hit the ball into space and leave the rest to osimhen to worry about(exactly what gave you the win yesterday against Roma)……. Don’t make the mistake of last season again this season….. Napoli is the best team in Italy now but they might end up dashing AC Milan the scuddeto on a Plata of gold if all the players keep pursuing personal glory.
Just wondering where Napoli would have been if they play like man city. Haalard is a wonderful player but if he plays in Napoli with selfish players like those in Napoli he will struggle for goals. Osimhen is even trying if he plays in Man City he may even do better than Haalard.
Yes Napoli Midfielders and even defenders rarely feed Victor but I also want to believe that this coach understands him very well, let us not also forget the quote he used “ we didn’t give him a lot of service last season” I believe things will get better as the season progresses. Kvara and Osimhen at least are working well together. Lozano and others will have no options soon than to bow to Osimhen’s effectiveness as their talisman when he adds the final touches to his game (general awareness and final decision when attacking the ball) as the coach specified.
And as selfish as most Napoli players are, Osimhen is selfless when it comes to passing the ball to them. And then you wonder why the top striker could be even a lot more willing to give assists than mid-fielders and defenders. If they stop being selfish Napoli will be a lot deadlier. But if they do not, I hope their season wont end like the last two. Always getting close but never winning the league because of selfishness of some players.
