Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo has disclosed how Nwankwo Kanu and George Weah made him become a fan of Arsenal and AC Milan as a kid.
The Nigerian international, who played all 90 minutes as Crotone were relegated from Serie A on Saturday after the team lost 1-0 to Inter Milan.
With the relegation of his team now confirmed, Simy will shift his focus to helping Crotone end the 2020-21 season on a high with games against Roma, Hellas Verona, Benevento, and Fiorentina still to come.
Although it’s a disappointing season for Crotone, a relatively good one it is for Simy Nwankwo who has so far scored 19 goals in 34 games, one short of the 20 goals he scored in the Serie B last season and with 4 games to end the season, there are possibilities of him surpassing his former goals tally.
In a chat with Sportweek via Area Napoli, Simy stated that he’s optimistic about getting what he deserved before the end of his career.
“Respect the rules, be a professional, an example. I will try to do better and better because football and life are a continuous evolution. And I am sure that in the end, I will get what I deserve.
“When I was a kid, the teams I was cheering for Arsenal because Kanu was playing there and I liked another Italian team so much, AC Milan belonging to another African, George Weah. “
