Watford scouted Ipswich Town striker Jack Lankester on Saturday as Premier League clubs sit up and take notice of the teenager. The Hornets sent a scout to Portman Road for the relegation scrap between bottom-placed Ipswich and Rotherham as the hosts held on for a 1-0 win.

Lankester, 19, has been impressing for the Championship club of late – despite Ipswich’s struggles – and scored his first league goal in a 3-2 home reverse to Millwall on New Year’s Day.
He made his breakthrough earlier this season, having played Under-23s football last season.
But he did manage to score against Watford’s Under-23s in both home and away matches last spring, which could be where the Hornets’ interest was first piqued.
