Watford are reportedly set to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Everton to secure the services of Girona defender Juanpe. Girona face a battle to keep hold of their star names following relegation from La Liga and it appears one of the first players to depart could be central defender Juanpe.

The 28-year-old reportedly had offers to leave the Montilivi last summer, but opted to stay and he was one of the club’s most impressive performers this term, featuring 33 times in the Spanish top-flight. That form has now led to reported interest from Watford, with Hornets boss Javi Gracia looking to use his knowledge of the Spanish game to good effect.
Everton are also said to be interested in Juanpe, who is under contract with Girona until the summer of 2022, although it is believed neither English club are willing to pay over the odds for the former Las Palmas player amid speculation they could both launch 7million euros bids.
