Oxford United boss Karl Robinson claims Watford’s Jerome Sinclair has snubbed a move to his club in favour of a move to Holland. Sinclair spent the second half of last season on loan at Oxford and managed four goals in 16 League One appearances, having spent the first half of the campaign with Sunderland on a temporary deal.

The 22-year-old, who is under contract at Watford until 2021, is set to head out on loan again this summer and U’s boss Robinson wanted to bring Sinclair back to the Kassam Stadium. However, he has now revealed that the former Liverpool trainee has rebuffed his advances and will instead move to an as-yet unnamed Dutch outfit.
He told the Oxford Mail: “We believe Jerome is going to Holland, even though we offered more than the Dutch club. “We did everything we had to do. We were told if we matched that (the Dutch offer) then it would be done. “We more than matched it, so I was really happy with the fact the board had that clout to do so.”
