Southampton have confirmed that Wesley Hoedt has signed for Celta Vigo on loan until the summer.
The Dutchman made 13 appearances for the club but has not featured since the arrival of Ralph Hasenhuttl and has now been permitted to move elsewhere for the remainder of the campaign.
Southampton were seen to have pulled off a coup when Hoedt joined from Lazio for a fee believed to be in the region of £15m in August 2017 but he appeared to struggle with the physicality of the Premier League.
He will join a familiar face at the Balaidos, with Sofiane Boufal already at the Galician outfit and will hope to play a big part in Vigo’s push for La Liga survival.
Celta have signed him on an initial loan with an option to make their move for the 24-year-old permanent in the summer.
