Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has eulogised Ademola Lookman for his impressive performance in the club’s victory against Sporting Lisbon.
La Dea won the UEFA Europa League contest 2-1 with academy products, Giorgio Scalvini and Matteo Ruggeri getting the goals.
Lookman put up a good display for the Serie A outfit in the keenly contested encounter.
Gasperini was quick to praise the Nigeria international for his contribution in the win.

“Lookman had perhaps his best performance of the season and also one of the best for Atalanta. He created many dangerous situations and is improving, but I don’t know if he will be able to replicate last year’s goal tally,”Gasperini was quoted by Sky Sports Italia.
“If we always played like the first half, we’d be right up there. It was good that we were able to suffer under pressure in the second half, but players like Scamacca, Holm and De Ketelaere need to find full fitness and improve their mentality too.”
The 25-year-old is gradually regaining top form after struggling in the early days of the campaign.
The Nigeria international has scored two goals in all competitions for Gasperini’s side this season.
Atalanta are now top of their group with a 100 per cent record of six points, followed by Sporting and Sturm Graz on three, while Champions of Poland Rakow still have zero points and goals scored.
