The General manager of Heartland Football Club, Chief Chukwudi Ifeanyi has congratulated the technical adviser of the club Fidelis Ilechukwu, who is also the assistant coach of the Olympic Eagles on the national team’s 5-0 win against Sudan on Tuesday and qualification for the 2019 U-23 AFCON, Completesports.com reports.
The Naze Millionaires boss also heaped encomiums on the head coach of the Dream Team VII, Imama Amapakabo, for the Olympic Eagles’ progeess through 5-1 aggregate win against Sudan.
Ilechukwu, fondly called ‘The Working One’ played a significant role in the victory of the Olympic Eagles who spelt Sudan in an enthralling encounter at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
“We are proud of Ilechukwu and the entire technical team of the Olympic Eagles,” Ifeanyi told Completesports.com.
“His presence, style and technical dexterity only goes to show that the reward for hard work is more work.
“We are proud to have him in our dugout which bodes well and speaks volumes about Heartland’s drive and objectives going into the new season and beyond.
“I believe that with the symbiotic relationship that Ilechukwu, Imama [Amapakabo]and [Kennedy] Boboye, the national team is destined for the Tokyo Olympics.”
The 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament begins in Egypt in November where the qualified teams will compete for berths to represent the Africa in the football event of the 2020 summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
