The 22-year-old levelled scores to make it 3-3 for the hosts few minutes after his introduction.
The striker then netted the winning goal for Lyon 18 minutes from time.
The Nigerian praised the former Arsenal player for his support and labelled him an exemplary player.
“He is an exemplary captain,” he told olympique-et-lyonnais.com.
“He has experience, so I watch him in training and he talks to me to advice me so that I can give the best of myself.”
