Nigeria’s U-18s lost to Croatia 33-11 in their opening match at the 2024 International Handball Federation (IHF) Women’s Championship in Group B on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Croatia showcased their dominance in both halves, outclassing Nigeria 16-6 in the first half and extending the lead to 33-11 by the end of the match.
The head coach of the Nigeria U-18 women’s handball team, Agboola Shittu, fielded Rahima Bello, Taiwo Babatunde, Damilola Akinlade, Lucy Onyekwere, Precious Samuel, Amina Muhammad, and Chidera Ogbusimba against Croatia.

However, they could not match the strength of their opponents.
Croatia’s victory placed the team at the top of the group, with Montenegro and Angola in second and third positions, respectively, and Nigeria at the bottom.
Up next in the Group B matches: Nigeria will face Montenegro on Thursday, August 15, while Croatia will go up against Angola on the same day.
The 10th IHF Women’s Youth U-18 Handball Championship is scheduled to take place from today, August 14, to August 25, 2024, in Chuzhou, China.
