West Ham have been put on red alert following reports Joel Veltman has reiterated his desire to leave Ajax this summer. Speaking earlier this summer, Netherlands international Veltman revealed he was hoping to move clubs during this transfer window, saying: “I have not made it a secret that I want to go abroad, so we look at what is going to happen.”

It had all appeared to go a bit quiet in regards to the 27-year-old’s potential exit but, according to reports, he has once again told Ajax that he wants a summer exit from the Eredivisie champions. The right-back, who can also play at the heart of defence, is said to be interested in a switch to the Premier League and his wish could be granted amid rumours of interest from West Ham.
Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to add to his defensive options before the window slams shut and an offer is expected to be lodged for Veltman over the coming days. With under 12 months left on the defender’s contract, it is thought a bid of around £10million may be enough to tempt Ajax into selling.
