Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton was fastest in second practice for the Singapore Grand Prix as he just edged out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Hamilton, the current Championship leader and reigning world champion, was narrowly the fastest under the lights at Marina Bay as the drivers and cars were given valuable time out on the street circuit in what should be similar conditions to Sunday’s race.
Hamilton set the pace, 0.184 seconds ahead of Verstappen, while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was third, 0.818secs adrift overall. Valtteri Bottas in fourth was 1.121secs off teammate Hamilton. Red Bull’s Alexander Albon was fifth, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in sixth.
Hamilton leads the drivers’ standings ahead of the race on 284 points, 63 ahead of Bottas, while Verstappen is third, ahead of Leclerc, who has won the last two races in Italy and Belgium.
