Norwegian striker Erling Haaland says he’s glad to win the Gerd Muller Award at the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The 23 year old won the aforementioned award which is given to the highest goalscorer in the period under review.
Haaland won the award after scoring a total of 56 goals, with 52 goals for his club Manchester City and four goals for his native Norway.
He scored 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions for City as they won a historic continental treble of the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.
He was closely followed by Kylian Mbappe who scored 52 goals and Harry Kane who netted 40 times.

Lionel Messi had the fourth highest number of goals with 38 and Poland legend Robert Lewandowski rounded off the top five with 36 goals.
However Haaland lost out narrowly to Messi in the biggest award of the night which dubbed the Ballon d’Or is the award for the best player of the year or season.
Messi was selected as the best player of the year followed by Haaland and Mbappe.
After his Gerd Muller Award triumph the former Borussia Dortmund man went on X to jubilate.
“Grateful for the Gerd Muller award and congratulations to @ManCity for best club of the year. Thank you to all my team-mates, the club staff and all fans for making it possible,” the post reads.
Haaland has scored a total of 27 goals in 28 games for Norway.
He has netted 13 times and dished out three assists in 15 games for City across all competitions this term.
City are third in the Premiership standings with 24 points accrued from 10 games.
They are top of the table in Group G of the UEFA Champions League with nine points from three matches.
