Former Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has disclosed that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland always freezes in big games.

“Right now he hasn’t been (seen in big games).

“We can agree on that. He has scored goals, so many goals, but in the big games… I want to see him do it again on Sunday when they play Arsenal.

“I want to see him appear in big matches and be the main character. Score one or two, hat trick, whatever. This season, I think his overall game has gotten a lot better than last season. On Sunday, and in the big games, I want to see him turn up, which is what (Lionel) Messi did.”

Newsflash Mr Mikel, this is 2024 and these days you can a be as rich Elon Musk self but if all you chat is s**t then nobody will respect you and if you like talk until your mouth is sore, it won’t change anything. Imagine this guy always chasing clout and thinking that he can just talk anyhow in Nigeria. Mikel abeg joor! Leave all this jingoist yarning behind and do something better! About Haaland always freezes in big games lool, you want to compare him to yourself when you were playing? Please go and sit down my guy.
Everyone knows that players all have different styles, so you comparing him to Messi is arrant nonsense! Who can compare to Messi? Is it Ronaldo? or Henry? Or Drogba? Abegi mr man, clear road.

Oh wait, hes been racially abused with his family. He comes crawling back and he wants to be the ambassador for Nigerians on football. He now got a sports analyst job and keeps on talking. Mikel is too young to be suffering from middle age crisis na, abi wetin we wan talk again?
Ever since he started this his podcast, na so so okpata dey drop for him mouth.
For a highly respected and accomplished ex international, this behaviour is strange and unbecoming.
Once he’s on that podcast, his mouth turns into a machine gun. The way he drives rough with that mouth ehn, it can make a formula one driver green with envy.
Has Mikel taken a look at the Premiership scorers chart lately? Haaland is banging in goals like no man’s business, and Mikel is saying he doesn’t show up in big games? Are the games he’s been scoring in not big enough for Mikel? What is the main job of a striker? How can you fault a striker who is bagging truckloads of goals consistently?
For someone who is often criticized for playing 300+ matches in the Premier League with no goals to show, whose bread and butter was sideways and backwards passes ad nauseum, it is strange that Mikel now has so much to say about someone else not showing up in games.
He needs to be more prudent with his utterances going forward, lest he destroys his good reputation with his own hands!
