Brazil legend Rivaldo has predicted that Manchester City will overcome Man United in this weekend’s Premier League clash at Etihad Stadium.
While City is in second position behind Arsenal in the league table with 17 points, United sit fifth on 12 points.
City come into the game in strong form and have top spot in their sights but Pep Guardiola’s side have won just one of their last four home games against United in all competitions. The other three games have been won by United – all of them under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Erik ten Hag’s men are also in fine form, winning four consecutive games in the Premier League and the Dutchman is aiming to equal Solskjaer’s best winning streak by claiming three points on enemy turf.
The former Barcelona star said Pep Guardiola’s side would beat Erik ten Hag’s side when the two sides lock horns in the Premier League this weekend.
“The Citizens are much more in tune with their style of play while the Red Devils – with new manager Erik ten Hag – are still looking for their best and most effective system, so I see a Manchester City win here with the in-form Erling Haaland giving the visitors’ defence a lot of headaches,” he told Betfair.
City and United have played hundreds of games against each other, dating back to the 1980s when Manchester United was known as Manchester United and City as West Gorton. However, the rivalry was not widely known in the early years; it was billed as a match between two cities. Neverthless, the rivalry significance climbed in 1881, and by 1890, the games had gained prominence. As the rivalry grew, the pair became one of Europe’s dominant clubs, but Manchester United have had the most success.
The derby has featured numerous big games in which both clubs have humiliated each other and won every trophy possible; however, there is one trophy that Manchester City have yet to win, and that is the Champions League, something that United have won three times. Moreover, in terms of trophies, Manchester United boasts more trophies than rival City.
