Guinea-Bissau have handed Fulham defender Marcelo Djalo a call-up to their provisional squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. The 25-year-old has barely featured for the Cottagers since he joined from Spanish second-tier side Lugo in 2017, making just four appearances in all competitions.
Djalo went on loan with Extremadura back in Spain’s Segunda Division, but that season-long switch was cut short in January. However, he still managed to receive a call-up to the Guinea-Bissau squad for March’s Nations Cup qualifier against Mozambique, but failed to make his debut. He will now link up with the 29-man squad and hope to make the cut ahead of his nation’s game against defending champions Cameroon in their opening Group F match in Egypt on June 25.
