Arsenal playmaker, Martin Odegaard, has told Mikel Arteta that he’s ready to take over the captain’s armband ahead of the 2022/2023 season.
Odegaard, who had an impressive performance for the Gunners in the 4-0 thrashing of Chelsea in a preseason friendly, made this known in a chat with TribalFootball.
Recall that Odegaard is one of the favourites to take the armband, following the exits of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.
The 23-year-old already captains his country and has made it clear he would be happy to step up.

“It’s not something I think about. I think about the future, and to make that as good as possible, so we’ll see what happens.
“I always enjoy responsibility. I’m a captain for my country (Norway) and it’s a nice experience, so I enjoy that,” Odegaard said.
“I don’t know anything about the situation here, I think that question is for Mikel (Arteta) and the club but if he asked me of course I would be happy to do it.”
