Nwankwo Kanu believes Augustine Eguavoen is the right man to lead the Super Eagles.
Eguavoen is currently in charge of the three-time African champions as caretaker coach.
The Super Eagles are currently unbeaten in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The West Africans have won three and drawn one out of four games.

“If I were the NFF president, I’d have given him the job by now,” Kanu told Brila FM.
“What are they waiting for? Are we waiting for him to lose two matches before we say he should go? This is overdue; they have to act.
“They brought someone in, he’s doing well, winning matches—what else are you looking for When coaches are doing well, you keep them.
“If they’re still looking for the ‘right one,’ when is that going to come. We don’t have time, qualifications here and there.”

This kind of put pressure on other ex-internationals like Okocha, Adepoju, Lawal, Amokachi, Dosu, and Amunike to also openly endorse Eguavoen.
Either way, the 2 remaining Afcon qualification matches this month will tilt the scale. I believe that’s what NFF is waiting for to make a final decision.
And that’s also why I suspect that – rather than give opportunities to fringe players to re-express themselves and earn 1 point from a possible 6 – Eguavoen will stick to his trusted first 11, with little or no surprise call ups or inclusions.
These last 2 matches are strategic for him.
