Huddersfield are sweating on the fitness of Jermaine McGillvary ahead of their opening Super League game against Salford on February 1.
McGillvary was injured during the pre-season defeat against Wakefield Trinity, leaving Giants coach Simon Woolford with a dilemma to solve before the opening clash with the Red Devils.
“We’ve put Darnell to full-back and he’s doing a really good job there so we’re not sure whether we’ll use him or Louis or Innes there,” he said.
“We conceded some tries down the side that the Seniors were on, so we’ll have to have a look at it.”
Meanwhile, despite the 28-24 defeat, Woolford said there was plenty of positives to take from their final pre-season clash.
“We did a lot of tough tackling practice,” he added. “There were some good signs there though, from an attacking point of view, we were able to score a couple of nice tries and in the second half we did the same.
“All in all, Aku and Ukuma getting their first run out was good and there were some positive signs there for us”
