AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has dismissed rumours linking him with a potential move to English Premier League side Newcastle.
Gattuso has moved quickly to pour cold water over reports linking him with the Magpies if they part company with current boss Rafael Benitez.
Benitez’s contract at St James’ Park runs out in the summer and, despite leading the club to safety for the second year running, talks have stalled over a new deal for the Spaniard.
Newcastle are still working hard to persuade the former Liverpool boss to pen fresh terms but if the 59-year-old does walk away the north-east club are weighing up potential replacements.

Gattuso has been linked with the position and reports suggested he had met with super-agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the possibility of taking charge of the Premier League outfit.
However, the Milan boss says there is nothing strange in the fact that he met with Mendes although Newcastle were not the reason.
Gattuso said: “We often see each other, I like good food and to talk about football. Newcastle? Unfounded rumours. I repeat, with Mendes, it is just a great friendship.”
