Saint-Etienne boss Jean-Louis Gasset refused to be too downbeat after his side’s 2-0 loss at Marseille on Sunday. Les Verts dropped down to fifth in Ligue 1 after the defeat, with OM replacing them in fourth spot.
Saint-Etienne are a point behind Marseille and six behind Lyon in third, the final Champions League spot, and Gasset remains confident his side can recover and continue their push for European qualification.
“We are fifth and there are 11 games left,” he said, as reported by Foot01. “We’re at home in six of those games, including Lille [on Sunday], which will be a dangerous match.
We must continue with all the misfortunes that they come to us.” He added: “It is necessary to respond and to finish as well as possible. If we finish fifth, we will be in our objectives.”
