Wasps head coach Dai Young believes James Gaskell’s contract extension shows the club is moving in the right direction. The 29-year-old has spent five seasons with Wasps, making 108 appearances, and he has now put pen to paper on an extension.

Wasps have not disclosed the length of his new contract but it provides further stability for the Gallagher Premiership outfit. Gaskell is the 13th member of the squad to commit in the last six months and Young has highlighted the importance of “continuity”.
Young told the club’s official website: “Jammer is a fantastic bloke and he’s always someone you can rely on. “What’s extremely important for us is building some continuity and stability within the squad and with 13 guys having signed new deals in the last six months, we’ve got a core group of players who are now set to be here for the next couple of seasons or so.”
