Super Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji has said Maduka Okoye was looking very sharp in training on Wednesday, ahead of Friday’s international friendly game against Saudi Arabia.
Okoye was a late call-up to the Super Eagles squad following the unavailability of Israel-based Adebayo Adeleye.
The last time Okoye was invited to the Super Eagles in November 2022 in a friendly game against Portugal.
Since his move to Udinese, he is yet to feature in any Serie A game this season.
Despite his inactivity, Raji said the 24-year-old was impressive in training.

“Maduka is a great guy and in training yesterday (Wednesday) looking very sharp alongside Francis Uzoho, both looking really sharp.

On how Okoye was received by his teammates after a long time out.
“Okoye was received by his teammates very warmly it’s been quite a journey for the young talented goalkeeper,” Raji said. “The Super Eagles is a team where they encourage one another to get the best out of us.
“We should forget what we see most that maybe a player doesn’t get regular playing time, we all understands what happen it’s about your ability, what you do and what you have and how you can bring out the potential in you.“
Meanwhile, the draw for the 2023 AFCON will take place today (Thursday) and the spokesperson stated that the players are looking forward to it.
“We have the draw on our minds, we are looking forward to it as well and at the same time we are focus on the game tomorrow against Saudi Arabia. It is a game that will test the resolve of the team. It has been one tactical session to the other.”

They have started again Raji whatever his name is, this same old loopholes initiators have started their manipulations again. If Okoye is that good and sharp why is he not considered good enough to start for two struggling teams??? Corruption is a curse in the country and it will take spiritual warfare to weed the corrupt officials for us to have success in this country. If the coach allows himself to be corrupted he will be disgracefully sacked by same people so he better close his ears and use his eyes to judge for himself who to pick for matches.
Okay
Yeah, he is always a training material. He has never impressed both at team and national team level.
