Tottenham are waiting for news on Juan Foyth after he picked up an ankle injury during the Audi Cup Final win over Bayern Munich. Spurs won the game 6-5 on penalties after it finished 2-2 in normal time, but the victory was soured by the injury to Foyth, who now faces an anxious wait.
The 21-year-old came on as a second-half substitute and lasted just 30 minutes before he went down clutching his left ankle. He tried to hobble off with the help of club physios but eventually needed a stretcher and boss Mauricio Pochettino is keeping his fingers crossed it is nothing serious. “I will have to see the doctor but as Foyth left the pitch he said ‘Gaffer I have tweaked my ankle’,” Pochettino said.
“We will have to see how bad it is.” Foyth looked poised to compete with Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters for a regular role at right-back this season following the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, and everyone concerned with the club will be hoping for good news.
