Dimitri Foulquier claims he is not thinking about his future at Watford because he is “happy” and focused on loan side Getafe.
The 25-year-old full-back joined the Hornets from Spanish side Granada in summer 2017, but was immediately loaned out to French Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg for last season.
Foulquier returned to Vicarage Road last summer but was again sent out by boss Javi Gracia with a return to Spain where he has scored three goals and chipped in with an assist in 23 appearances to help the side sit a lofty fourth in La Liga.
There has been talk of a return to the Premier League this summer, but Foulquier insists he will leave that decision up to Watford, while he would happily pen a permanent deal at Getafe.
He told FuriaLiga: “I spent four years in Spain with Granada. La Liga is a league that I got to know well and where I felt I was personally improving in.
It’s true that in the past three seasons, I’ve known injuries that haven stopped me in my tracks. “That meant that after my year in France with Strasbourg, I wanted to return to La Liga.
When the Getafe opportunity presented itself, I didn’t hesitate. I’m happy to be here.” On the future, Foulquier added: “I’m loaned without a view to buy, but I’m not really thinking about that. First of all, we need to finish the season and I need to stay physically fit. The rest will come naturally.”
