Daga was courted by Sky Bet Championship outfit Watford and Belgian Pro League clubs last season.
The talented midfielder spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba.
The 17-year-old was part of Flying Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt.
Daga made one appearance for Nigeria at the competition after sustaining an injury in the country’s opening fixture against Senegal.
He however returned for the FIFA U-20 World Cup later in the year.

He’s still not yet 18 years after featuring for the under 20 side over two years ago.
Nigeria football administration needs to address this age issue with our national youth teams; it’s just unbecoming. It’s doubtful that our football will go far with glaring age cheats.
In two junior under 17 world cup editions held, our golden eaglets have failed to qualify: a competition that they hold records with most success. The Flying Eagles could not make to the last under 20 world cup edition after their last appearance.
Presumably, we have succeeded to qualify for the under age world cup tournaments in the past due to age cheat.
We need to revamp the age-grade football teams with the right players, motivation and the right tacticians.
It’s embarrassing and quite sad how our football have declined over the years. At the ongoing Olympics our male soccer team, the under-23 which was a household name following their exploits at Atalanta’96, Rio ‘2016 regrettably could not feature at this year’s edition due to years of rot, decay and decline of our football. And now the senior national team is at the risk of missing out of another world cup. Bad optics for our football.
“He’s still not yet 18 years…?”
This is the same question I asked while I was reading.
After playing at 2 U20 WAFU tournaments and 2 or 3 seasons at Enyimba, this Daniel Daga we have been seeing breaking bones on the football pitch is still not 18 until next January…..???
And one confusionist says you cant tell between a teenager and a non-teenager when you see one….??
Anyways, congrats to the boy for bagging this move.
@Fidel_enny, Daniel Daga is actually relatively well-known in grassroots football circles in Nigeria.
These kids don’t fall out of the sky, and several of them are quite well-known, including Daga whom many have known of and followed since he was about 12/13 years old and tagged as a “wunderkid” after skippering his secondary school (Community Commercial Secondary School at Ibiaku Itam) as a JSS 1 or 2 student in the Governor’s/Principals’ Cup competition in Akwa Ibom State. He then joined Carabana Academy (which was the ‘feeder’ academy for FC One Rockets of Uyo), from where he was called up to the U17 Eaglets camp. However, after one practice match against the U20 Flying Eagles, coach Ladan Bosso promptly “promoted” him to the Flying Eagles for the then imminent WAFU U20 Cup. The rest, as they say, is history!
So please ignore our noisy resident Witchdoctor (LOL!) and just extend BEST WISHES TO THE LAD!
Hahahahaha…People can so cook up stories….LMAOoo.
Every camp news of the U20s under Bosso have always made the news…including all the friendlies they play. There has been no time it was reported the golden eaglets faced off with the flying eagles.
As a matter of fact, due to the habit of camping late in the last few years, the Golden eaglets and flying eagles camps never coincide….LMAOoo. Both teams always have their tournaments months apart.
I understand some confused drunkards are desperate to justify their goofery. But they should do so within the ambits of decency and not resort to spreading fictitious innuendos.
Bosso promptly promoted him after the U17s faced off with the U20s……LMAOoo. I suppose it was glaring he was gonna fail MRI-tests because this dude was NEVER gonna be age mates with those kids Nduka Ugbade assembled.
In these days when schools employ mercenaries to execute school competitions, one confused drunkard’s evidence that Daga was 14 years old 3 years ago when he first featured for the U20s in the WAFU B is that he captained a secondary school team…..LMAOoo….that’s a s0-called realist for you….LMAoo.
I guess after WAFU B in 2021 he never returned to his school to write his school cert…..LMAOoo…because we all knew many of Ugbade’s boys went back to their schools at different times to write their school leaving exams. LMAOoo. I guess the boy had completed his secondary education by the age of 14.
Those of us who know the Nigerian league well know that no true 14/15 year old can play regularly in the NPFL. Even the likes of Late coach kelechi emeteole (a vastly experienced coach in the league) and Ladan Bosso himself have publicly declared at different times in the past, that the least true age you can find playing regular first team football in the NPFL is early 20s…..Coach emeteole precisely said TWENTY FOUR, yea…..24
Once again, Congratulations to the “well-known” grassroot star who play for so long at the grassroots to be well know, has played 2 WAFU B tournaments for the flying eagles, has played in the NPFL since the 2022 season and yet isnt even 18 years of age…LMAOooo.
Isn’t that magnificent….?!
Like I said, our nationl team handlers should better not make the same mistakes they made with Rabiu Ibrahim, thinking he was young and still had time. They should integrate him into the SE now or regret it later.
ARROGANT IGNORANCE! LMAO…
The sum total of your unnecessarily pedantic dissertation is akin to “those of us who know Nigeria are aware that many people forge their certificates, and therefore WitchDr. Drey forged his”! SMH
Dude, it’s one thing to be ignorant. It’s a different thing to refuse to learn things you’re obviously previously unaware of. Learning should be a lifelong undertaking. Try it sometime!! LOL!
PS: BTW, Rabiu Ibrahim played professional football in Europe for about FIFTEEN YEARS after playing for 2007 U17 Eaglets (including playing in the Europa Conference League as late as 2022/23 or thereabouts), so abegi find another pulled-from-your-behind CONJECTURAL example! LOL!
Rabiu was a slow ponderous football player (even at youth levels). That he didn’t make it to the biggest leagues and topmost levels had absolutely NOTHING to do with age. SMH
“…Like I said, our national team handlers should better not make the same mistakes they made with Rabiu Ibrahim, thinking he was young and still had time…..”
How does the above statement relate to Rabiu playing 15 years in Europe or infer that he didnt make it to the big leagues due to age.
Simple comprehension…!
For a person who writes a heapload of sludge with so much confidence, One would at least expect he would display some basic ability to comprehend, before responding…..LMAOoo
….and after playing 15 seasons in Europe, when did he make his debut for Nigeria and how many caps did he have in total for a player who held so much promise and proved at both U17 and U20 levels he could challenge for the no 10 shirt in the SE….LMAOOoo
I would have quivered in my pants if this cheap lying confusionist had pulled out any links to any news report….even if it is from blogs, of where our Golden Eaglets under Ugbade and Flying Eagles under Bosso ever engaged in a friendly match…..talk more of Daga featuring for the U17s at any point under Ugabde and getting promoted to the U20s on the orders of Bosso…..LMAOoo.
Since you seem to see yourself as the encyclopedia of footballing information in Nigeria…..please furnish us with the match report of this the U17s vs U20s game, where you found out Daga was so good playing for the U17s at the age of 14/15 that Bosso promptly “promoted” him to the Flying Eagles…..LMAOOoo
Even if MRI had grade 33, the Daga that played at the WAFU B 3 years ago would have failed it with flying colours. Never in this lifetime was he mates with those kids who were with Nduka talk more of lacing boths for him….LMAOOo
Mr well known “grassroot veteran” played so long at the grassroots to become widely known and has subsequently played 3 seasons as a professional and still isnt gonna be 18 until next year….LMAOo
Some people must just learn to understand that wisdom existed before they existed….LMAOo
I’ll rather be ignorant than be a cheap liar.
LMAO…The Witchdoctor is sourcing his information from “blogs”…
Dude, I can tell you for a FACT and for free that the Eaglets and Flying Eagles were in camp during the same period for the 2022 WAFU B competitions (the U20 in May, and the U17 in June), and played practice matches against each other and against academies.
Exactly how IGNORANT (not to mention dumb) can someone be that they think what they don’t read in a “blog” (or social media) did not occur?!
For instance, even as we are discussing this, Danjuma’s U20 Falconets (who are now on a week-long break) have played several practice matches in Abuja (against both male and female opposition), but our resident Witchdoctor is waiting for it to be published on “blogs”. LMAO!
Dude, it’s NOT a question of “rather be ignorant” – you are IN FACT ignorant (both literally and pejoratively)! SMDH
@9jaRealist avoid this person to protect your salvation and energy. Don’t allow sport to make someone lead you into iniquity. I had to advise myself after using words of condemnation on him yesterday. Avoiding him will save your soul because this person will make you say words that will create a spiritual dent on you due to his carnal nature. I prayed for him when I realised he caused me to use unprintable words that caused me to check myself. I also came online to serve an apology but this person insulted me that was when I knew this is an agent on a mission for his master. I hope mercy finds him and I pray I don’t have to find myself exchanging abuses with him than to bless him. May God increase for me to decrease because this person is the main reason why I always have to be enemies with people on this forum for years.
Daga never played 2 or 3 seasons with Enyimba….haba
LMAO…Our resident pull-it-from-the-sitter Witchdoctor strikes yet again!!
Some people have self-hate hence they reflect it on others. Daga only played 1 season with Enyimba and why is complete sports posting other people’s emails? this is some crazy shit
LMAO! Our resident Witchdoctor’s issues are myriad, with self-hate, low self-esteem, and an inbred inferiority complex, merely the tip of the iceberg…SMH
“Rabiu was a slow ponderous football player (even at youth levels)”. I disagree with this statement.
Rabiu Ibrahim was skillful and competent. He did gather a handful of Super Eagles caps. But, luck just failed to shine on him. But in the Slovakian league, he is regarded highly and the followers of that league are still left stunned that Super Eagles handlers shunned him extensively.
Are you minding that drunk pretentiously haughty confusionist who probably never watched Rabiu Ibrahim play….LMAooo
Rabiu Ibrahim was so fancied by Berti Vogts that he listed the then 18 year old in his prelim list for the 2008 AFCON. Is there anyone in Nigeria who watched Rabiu and never touted him to be Okocha’s heir…?!
I could vividly remember he was also once in the SE camp under Amodu….at that time U20s were either preparing for the U20 AFCON or the U20 WC in abuja too and hence was drafted in to train with the SE eagles. But he never made his debut then as the excuse was that “he is still too young and needed more time, his time will surely come”.
Little did they (and we all ) know then that he was an old man in a small body and should be used while he was still fresh and hot.
His case has subsequently always become a reference point in the SE, hence no time was wasted in drafting in players like Onazi, Omeruo, Alampasu and subsequently, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Osimhen et al once they are showing glimpses of the ability to compete at the highest level.
Some confusionists want to tell us history we were part of and saw with out naked eyes……LMAOooo
@deo, he was very skillful but most definitely NOT fast or pacey…
Or hardworking (tracking back, contributing defensively, etc.). That’s what affected his career, NOT age. The Witchdoctor pulled the age thing out of his kister! LMAO!
Comprehension….!
Pls show the world where Dr. Drey ever said Age affected his career…LMAOoo
With his facial appearance, especially those lips, he’s gonna be a prime target for racist chants.
If that happens, shrug it off and keep on balling.
Fortunately he’s not going to England, or worse Argentina. Problem for dey.
Bia CSN, why is it that it is when I want to deliver the final kill you guys always block my comment…?
Bosso’s U20 with Daga departed the shores of Nigeria on the 18th of APRIL 2022, Ugbade’s U17 camp didnt even open for screening up until 30th of MAY 2022.
But one shameless liar claims who has been deceived with alduterated english while in high school claims “….Daniel Daga was called up to the U17 Eaglets camp. However, after one practice match against the U20 Flying Eagles, coach Ladan Bosso promptly “promoted” him to the Flying Eagles for the then imminent WAFU U20 Cup. The rest, as they say, is history!….”
May you rot in h..l with your acute hallucinations along with that serpent that is consoling you up there.
CSN…please let my posts go through for Zeus’ sake.
Let me strip that dude that lies for a FACT naked, that the Eaglets and Flying Eagles were NEVER camp during the same period for the 2022 WAFU B competitions (the U20 in May, and the U17 in June), and NEVER played practice matches against each other.
Bosso’s U20s were already out of the country for weeks by Ugbade even started screening for his team.
He should go and look for other people to tell lies for free.
Ok….so these are not blogs. These are popular news outlets in Nigeria
The New telegraph on the 18th April 2022 reports “…Nigeria’s Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has maintained that starting the preparation late will not affect the team just as the team will depart the country today for Niger to intensify preparations for the (WAFU B U20) tournament. The camping exercise started last week and Bosso has been able to trim the team down to 30 players.”
Score Nigeria on the 23rd April 2022 reports “….The training camp of the Golden Eaglets ahead of U17 AFCON qualifiers in Ghana will open in Abuja next week Saturday, officials have told SCORENigeria. “The team WILL OPEN CAMP ON MAY 30,” a top team official told SCORENigeria. Hundreds of hopefuls are expected to storm the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja in their quest to make the final squad. The Eaglets under coach Nduka Ugbade will feature in a WAFU B tournament in Ghana to produce the two teams for the U17 AFCON in Algeria.
Let that cheap lying matter of FACT dumb Conceited educated illiterate and his back up singer up there bring up their own MATTER OF FACT, I CAN TELL YOU FOR FREE news sources to at least corroborate his fake news if not outright confirming it.
Ewu Tanzania.
All national teams have MEDIA OFFICERS. 2 national teams cannot meet even for a scrimmage, and neither their media officers, nor the NFF media department will not say something about it into the public space.
“….Dude, I can tell you for a FACT and for free that the Eaglets and Flying Eagles were in camp during the same period for the 2022 WAFU B competitions (the U20 in May, and the U17 in June), and played practice matches against each other and against academies….”
See him puffing up is empty barrelled chest like a deranged gorilla over something he cannot substantiate…..LMAOoooo
Pride goes b4 a FALL…..LMAOooo
You were actually right, “….Exactly how IGNORANT (not to mention dumb) can you be that they think 2 national teams will take each other on while both preparing for major tournaments and at the least, their media officers will keep mum about it on all media – print, mass and/or social media
You are too small to teach me history that unravelled right before my eyes.
Realist my foot….!
Why is the Witchdoctor arguing with HIMSELF….LMAOOOOOO!!!
Please come and “tell us for a fact” again how “…the Eaglets and Flying Eagles were in camp during the same period for the 2022 WAFU B competitions…” LMAOooo. And how they managed to played practice matches against each other when Bosso’s U20s were already in Niger before Ugbade even commenced screening for the U17s talk more of having a team to play practise games with….LMAOoo.
Please narrate that story to us again…..LMAOOoo. We are all ears…..LMAOoo
Hahahaha…Who is literally and pejoratively the ignorant and dumb fool now….LMAOoo
Who is the glorified imbecile who has “….refused to learn things he’s obviously previously unaware of”….LMAOOo…things like the fact that national teams usually have media officers who report activities of their respective teams on various forms of print and electronic media…..LMAOoo
CSN would let me strip your lying ass naked in one piece under any of your comments. The only way they would allow me send your pompous lying ass crashing into the dust in disgrace was to splash the sucker punch into tiny bits but with equal efficacy……LMAOoo.
Try taking your own advice sometimes ehn, “…Learning should be a lifelong undertaking. Try it sometime!!……” LMAOooo
And please start with some courses in HUMLITIY……LMAOoo….It will help you a whole lot in life…..LMAOoo
The boy will do well.
