Nigeria U20s national team captain, Ibrahim Abubakar has assured Nigerians that they will do the country proud at the 12th All Africa Games kicking off this Friday in Rabat, Morocco, Completesports.com reports.
Abubakar, a midfielder, who is on the payroll of Plateau United – a Nigeria Professional Football League side, says the team has been working hard in training, and the players are raring to go in their 12th All Africa Games assignment.
“We have been preparing hard in training and the coaches have also been talking to us and telling us about the importance of the competition,” Abubakar said.
“I know Nigerians want us to do well and we want to make sure we make them proud by doing all we can to go as far as we can at the Games.
“This is a great opportunity for me and my teammates to make the nation proud and we are determined to do so.”
This is the first time the Nigeria’s U20s are representing the country in the men’s football event of the All Africa Games.

Hitherto, the U23 team, known as Olympic Eagles had been representing the country in the men’s football event of the All Africa Games.
The Flying Eagles are in the Group A of the men’s football event alongside hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso and South Africa.
The Paul Aigbogun’s team will start their campaign on Friday, 16th August against Burkina Faso in Rabat.

Is the all Africa games football event an under 20 championship or Nigeria decided to field it’s under 20 team?at least we would like to know which age categories is mandatory for the all Africa games.
It has been under 23 previously, but given that the under 24s have an afcon qualifying match in September and AFCON. Championship in November, it was decided that the All Africa games be an under 20 tournament
