Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo has distanced himself from reports claiming Real Madrid are looking to sign him this summer. Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has already been busy during this transfer window, having signed Eden Hazard and Ferland Mendy, and there are claims the Frenchman is eager to sign Firpo.

The 22-year-old full-back, who is currently playing for Spain at the Under-21 European Championship, impressed for Betis last season, scoring three goals from 22 La Liga appearances. Reports are suggesting a move to Santiago Bernabeu is on the cards but, when asked about the situation, Firpo distanced himself from speculation. “Did Madrid call me? If you want to know, you can ask them,” he said to El Larguero, as cited by Marca.
“I’m here with the national team and that’s all I want to think about.” Firpo also gave a brief response to rumours linking Betis with a move for Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias, saying: “I’ve heard something but I don’t want to get involved in club issues now. “It would be a great signing [if Iglesias arrived].”
