Former Super Eagles defender, Efe Sodje has said head coach Finidi George needs the support of all Nigerians to ensure the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The three-time African champions are yet to record a win in the qualifiers after drawing their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and Squirrels of Benin Republic in their next games early next month.

Sodje reckoned it is important for the entire nation to rally round behind the gaffer and the team.
“Every manager has their trusted players. I’m sure the technical side of the NFF helped him with some picks since he’s new to the job. However, having worked with Peseiro, Finidi knows the players he wants to work with,” the former Huddersfield Town centre-back told Brila FM.
“As ex-players and fans, we need to support him because we all share the goal of qualifying for the World Cup. We should pray and be positive about his choices, hoping he gets the results needed to take us to the World Cup, I wish him good luck and hope for the right results,” the 51-year-old added.

Well said. Support is really nice. But more is needed than just VERBAL SUPPORT.
Last time I checked, verbal support and handshakes are not edible. It’s not possible to eat them, or pay bills with them.
Abi Finidi no need salary? He may not need it anyway, as a rich ex player. He might even be richer than Jeff Bezos. But he should still be paid.
You people hired him. You MUST pay him.
