Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and Union of European Football Association (UEFA)have suspended the Russia national team until further notice.
FIFA and UEFA took the action following Russia’s invasion of neighbours Ukraine.
UEFA also announced they will be terminating their deal with energy company Gazprom.
Gazprom is majority-owned by the Russian state and is also major sponsor of the Champions League.
The suspension means that, barring an unlikely change of course in the Russian invasion, the country will not be able to face Poland in a World Cup play-off semi-final next month.

This Gorimapa Infantino don the use him FIFA OFFICE do politics too much o… Wetin concern football and politics again. @JimmyBall, you fall my hand for this one. I wish I can take your side but just cannot. I even feel like asking you to apologise to the house!
This is the best decision FIFA has ever made.
The most senseless and clueless comment of the whole century.
I tell you my brother this @JimmyBall is just so so dumb
See how I am insulted for my post… Where Football and politics don mix before? Make una go rest abeg… Who scatter Libya, Iraq (for Weapon of Mass Destruction Wey no exist?) some of una choose not to see where I said nobody support Putin moves. Russia game can be taken outside of Russia… the actions of politicians no suppose concern footballers. All of us no dey same level for world politics… One sided story is very misguiding! When you listen to two sides of a story you go know how to reason matter… Still war no be solution in this day and time… Those of una wey insult me for lack of understanding of a complex matter, I still thank Una. No be only football I the watch… I know wetin the happen for our world and also, I know enough about religion sef put!
Nigerian players in Russia are coming home. Victor Moses is one of them. Our Ejeku will certainly get a better Club in any Country in Europe. Russia Currency is worthless right now. Moses is now a victim of his dump refusal to play for his Nation. FIFA did a good job by sacking the rogue Russia who invaded a peaceful Ukraine.
@jimmybal u r right u don’t mix football with politics, everybody is been sentimental saying Russia is invading Ukraine ve u listened to both sides of d story?n I ask can Russia build a military base in Cuba or nothern Ireland?uS/Britain should stop playing pranks they are d most cunning pple ve ever seen in planet Earth
God bless to you both @ Chidi n Jimmyball. I will forever love to pitch my tent with those ENLIGHTENED BY VIRTUES SUCH AS HONESTY, TRUTH, LOVE, SELFLESSNESS, HUMILITY, RESPECT ETC than do so with those only Educated in our so called school curriculum matter but most happily, live inside the TENT OF THOSE THAT HAVE GOT BOTH.
@JimmyBall and those that supported him, you guys are still clueless from your comments!
War is never the answer! No matter the angle you are coming from…
Politics and sport doesn’t meet. But as it stands now, what do you want UEFA or FIFA to do when war is negatively affecting the footballing life of the people? Fold hands and watch? Instead of showing solidarity with the non aggressive and weaker side so that the aggressive and stronger side can call off the invasion?? And So that our life can come back to normal..
That is what every sector like UEFA should do. To force Russia to stop these madness! Cos with all regard to the military might of Ukraine, they can not stand that of Russia. Even USA ranked as number 1 in terms of military might will struggle!
So lets put hands together even as fans to condemn this madness! Instead of the Gorimapa joke you’re making. This is serious bro!!
