The younger brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Antetokounmpo, may likely miss Greece’s semifinal clash against Slovenia at the ongoing FIBA Olympics Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs) after suffering a knee injury in the previous game against Egypt.
Greece’s Head Coach, Vassilis Spanoulis, disclosed during the pre-game press conference that Nigerian-born Greece international, Kostas Antetokounmpo, suffered a knee injury during the second quarter of Greece’s last game against Egypt.
The coach added that the player was taken to the local medical facility to undergo an MRI test.
While the results haven’t been made official, SDNA reports posted on Basketnews.com stated that the Antetokounmpo brother is highly unlikely to play against Slovenia based on initial impressions of the Greek medical team.
Kostas Antetokounmpo who plays for Panathinaikos in the Greek Basket League averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds for 3.5 EFF in the two group games in Piraeus, playing an average of 8.9 minutes per game.
Kostas’ more popular older brother, Giannis Antetokounmpo who stars for Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA, was rested during the game against Egypt and is set to lead the roster against Slovenia on Saturday, July 6.
