Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he wants veteran pair Fernandinho and Scott Carson to go around again next season.
Both players are off contract in June.
Guardiola said, “It is so important. The players know the club, we are a young team, we cannot forget that.
“Of course Fernandinho and Scott Carson. The club has to work to keep them, they behave well, we know them mentally. All of them love to play, are incredibly focussed and we have to try to keep them.
“The club has done it brilliantly. Every season is different – we don’t know what will happen but the soul and the heart of the team is still young – and that’s important.”
Guardiola is also confident of securing Bernardo Silva to a new deal.
The Times says City are happy about ‘positive’ contract talks with Silva and feel he will agree new terms soon.
