Nigeria defender Ashleigh Plumptre admits she surprised even herself after grabbing her first Barclays FA Women’s Super League goal in Leicester City’s 3-0 win over West Ham United.
The 23-year-old nodded home after Natasha Flint had given her side the lead before Freya Gregory’s second-half strike helped fire Leicester to consecutive league victories.
Plumptre proved one of the Foxes’ surprise heroes at the Pirelli Stadium by getting one of the goals.

“In training we practice set-pieces quite a lot and people say I’m the target,”she was quoted by Leicester Mercury.
“Then I end up being the decoy and everyone else scores, so it was a bit of a shock.
“It feels really good and I think my celebration says it all. For me, I’m passionate about playing for this team and if I can contribute going forward then that’s brilliant – obviously my main role is to defend well.
“But it means a lot because ultimately I wanted to get promoted with this team and to get my first FA WSL goal, it’s genuinely one of the best feelings in the world.”

Always proud of you.
Congrats to you Plumptre. Just keep the fire burning.
But if I may ask, how is she a Nigerian? Looking at her complexion, I can’t really find anything “African.” Someone please enlighten me.
Decent lefty.
Good at man marking and ball distribution.
