Alex Iwobi was introduced with three minutes left but could not prevent Everton from going down 2-0 at home to Manchester City in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-finals, Completesports.com reports.
Two late goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne sealed a last four spot and keep their hopes of winning the quadruple this season.
City began the game with a high intensity, putting a lot of pressure on Everton without really testing goalkeeper Joao Virginia – standing in for Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen.

Instead, it was Everton who had the first decent chance at goal, when Richarlison tried his luck with an overhead kick which went over the bar.
In the second half Raheem Sterling forced a smart save from Virginia after a give-and-go with Fernandinho.
With six minutes left in the game City found the breakthrough thanks to Gundogan who headed in a rebound after Aymeric Laporte’s shot was parried on to his path.
And in the 90th minute City delivered the hammer blow when De Bruyne latched onto a through ball and blasted the ball past Virginia.
In the first quarter-finals played on Saturday Southampton thrashed Bournemouth 3-0 at the Vitality stadium.
The two other quarter-finals will be played on Sunday with Chelsea entertaining Sheffield United and Manchester United taking on Leicester at the King Power stadium.
