Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze says he is not keen to play for England at the senior level.
Eze was included on the 2022 World Cup standby list but failed to make the main list.
But he said: “If I’m honest, I’m not thinking about it. It’s difficult to focus on anything else other than my own game and me playing football.
“Nothing really else, I just want to play my football and focus on being the best player that I can be, contribute to my team and that’s where I’m at right now.”

Eze though has kept his eye on the World Cup – a tournament that has been full of surprises so far – though the Three Lions have made it to the last-eight.
He said: “They’re doing what they can, they’re trying their best. Every opponent is difficult as you can see by the draw we had with the United States.
“Just watching World Cups it’s just more of a huge motivation for kids watching. That experience of representing your country at a major tournament is something everyone wants to go through.
“It’s something I’m working towards. I want to perform and play at the big tournaments.”

Hehehehe.
You are English, please stick to fulfilling your dreams of sitting on the bench of the 3 lions…not after the treatment metted out to Tammy and Tomori.
Our elders will say Dem no dey tell naughty pikin say fire dey burn.
@Dr.Drey… Well said. These boys just don’t know what’s in store for them. John Fashanu, John Salako, Ugo Ehiogu, Nedum Onuoha, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Carlton Cole, Dele Alli, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori… It’s very pitiful to see the last two added already to the list while still in their prime… Despite what happened to Tomori, Adarabioyo is still in one corner thinking he too has a chance… Let’s sit back and relax to see how England fares against France and Killian Mbappe today!
Na so so sense full your plate @Dr Drey. We don’t need these arrogant foreign born players.
Heaven bless the likes of Iwobi, Balogun and Bassey and all deserving dual nationality super eagles players.
Baba have seen that ‘e get as e be’ with his chances of playing for England at senior level.
But honestly, He and his team mate Olise are needed in the super Eagles Midfield. They are the missing link .Now is the time for the NFF to move fast to convince the duo to play for us.Let us he honest, who will Olise displace in the French or English team? Same with Eze with the English team?
Eze your flair, creativity and ingenuity is alien to the English…..The English game is too regimented for my liking and it won’t suit your kind of play……you have the Nigerian spirit in your game and that’s where the gods want you to go…..The signs are there but you have refused to see it…..the highest England will give you is 4 to 10 caps in friendly game which will be criminal……The world stage needs to witness Eberechi Eze first hand and in full dose…… England is about robbing world football of one of the most unique talents the world has ever seen…..We all need to do something about this crime against football.
You tell him. If not for the French coach at Crystal Palace, Eze would be playing in the championship just like Ovie Ejaria at Reading, who now with an English manager Paul Ince is out of favor after being transferred there by Spanish coach Jose Manuel Gomes.
The English play football like they fight wars. They don’t respect thinking players they respect brave players, those who advance toward the enemy. Modric one of the greatest midfielders was unsuccessful playing in England, Messi knew better than to come to England.
If in midfield you’re a hard-tackling player who can advance with the ball England is the place for you. Eze cannot even tackle, while Bellingham, Foden can tackle, advance with the ball and make difficult through passes.
The point is England have players that can do what Eze does and more, yes they may not be as skilful dribblers as Eze but the other things they do that Eze doesn’t puts them ahead of him.
If Eberechi Eze is my son, I will advise him against playing for nigeria as it is presently constituted.
In one the last last group games, England played against Wales.
England and wales are two different nations but belongs to one country called the great Britain.
Britain is made up of four nations, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
As an Igbo man I would be proud for Eberechi Eze, Oliseh, etc to play for the nation of Biafra, Saka, Abraham, Tomori, etc to play for Odua, as part of a new nigeria of four nations.
Arewa, the Middle Belt, Biafra and Odua nations are distinct nationalities that can co-exist in a a new nigeria.
36 governors, 36, house of Assemblies, 108 senators, countless number of Reps and PAs constitute waste pipes and unwarranted leakages on our economy and impoverishes us all and makes us unattractive to children born in the diaspora.
Every country rises and falls with the quality of their political leadership.
My view is my view.
Mr. Editor, you dont want to here the truth?
Odua and Biafra should have been at the world cup, if they were nations of their own while still part of nigeria as a country.
Then and only then would most parennts who don’t feel proud of the present nigeria would encourage their children to play for their nations they are proud to identify with.
Did you not watch England V Wales?
Are they not from the same country?
What is wrong with a BIAFRA and ODUA playing at the next World Cup as part of a restructured nigeria?
If Eberechi Eze is my son I will advise him against playing for nigeria as it is presently constituted.
@ Chiffo, whilst there some elements of sense in what you saying, advising your supposed son to follow your line of thought, will mean EZE playing for that dream Biafra country when he is wickedly grey on all sides, possibly age 48.
Mr Chiffo, where would you place my people from South South region? What of the people in the Middle-beth region too.? In reality, your exactions are nothing but ‘a rant’ from a very acute frustrated individual who is, very likely, living a low life somewhere away from his own Country. Cheer-up, all is not lost. Nigeria is not dividable. One Nigeria, one People, one Destiny.
I am an Edoman from Benin City. Nigeria. I am a Proud Nigerian.
Who cares pls continue to wait what happened to others will definitely happen to you.
Mr. Chiffo your point of view is not right, you must let your boy to play for Super Eagles as Amokache advised his boy to play for Super Eagles; Nigeria is your original country , land you must raise it to high standard among countries of the World. Inspite of weak and bad football administration, but we would like to raise our country between nations, look at Morocco Ziyach,Menahi, Mrabet, Bono , Alnesyeri , Mizrawi, composed Hakimi, Poval all are them have been composed in France academies so they have daul nationalities , they have accepted to owe allegiance to their orignal country Morocco.Any dual nationalities player does not have any intention to owe allegiance for SE team ,SE coaching crew must abandon him, then the have to go to another have allegiance.
&Chifo, my brother God will bless, you bless ur unborn generations. Yorubas and Igbos will be splitting their bloods for the failed country in all aspects, while the Fulani barbarians would be smiling to the banks, those boys are not stupid they will not play for Nigeria. Let Buhari and his cohort sons play for Nigeria. I’m a Yoruba man I support Yoruba nation,Biafra nation all day. Signed sealed by me.
Hmmmm!! There are many day dreamers, illegal advisers with false hope of life builders of castles the air in this forum. This is unbelievable! Our people dey talk say “any dog wey talk say na ram blokos e go chop sleep, go sleep with hunger”. Una welcome o!
A way to end a year! LET IT BE ON RECORD, JIMMYBALL had the BALLS to AGREE with DR.DREY.
This is the humility of the highest order.
@Dr.Drey you gat this one in the bag. we move
@Zuka… I played football. I am for football. I have said it for a long time now that what we need in Nigeria is relevance and form plus merit, not politics or man-know-man. I have often mentioned some obscure players on this forum as meriting Super Eagles squad place. From experience I know what any good football team needs on the field of play are fighters, hardworkers and talent. Over the years we let people we gave our football reigns to oversee use politics and mediocrity to hang us where we are currently.
Morocco has just shown the rest of Africa and wider world that no excuse will ever suffice for underwhelming performance by any African nation in world cups going forward.
Greece won Euro 2004 with team full of players who could marshal a tight-knit defence similar to this Morocco magic of Qatar 2022.
Take it to the bank any day… a team with solid defensive tight-knit and some decent attack will cause lethal attacking teams trouble any day. I just wish Nigeria my country can learn and know that modern day football is not all attack and loose defence but rather defence buildup to attack and keeping shape-discipline… We have seen Morocco do it and it’s time we tell ourselves the truth and push for mediocre players to be cut from our dear Super Eagles wity immediate effect.
Cameroon, Tunisia and Morocco has shown that wity guts and belief, any team that is truly ready can challenge any other team…
