Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel has urged Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to raise the standard of play of the senior national team to a level where it can compete against the rest of the world.
Unuanel made this known on the backdrop of the game between Germany and France at the ongoing Euro 2020, where the French team won by a narrow 1-0 margin on Tuesday.
Recall that the three-time Africa Cup of Nation champions struggled to impress in their last international friendly games against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. The Super Eagles lost the first match 1-0 before holding their Cameroonian counterpart to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture.
The games were meant to prepare the team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia in September. Nigeria is also expected to face Mexico in a friendly game on July 3 in Los Angeles, USA.
Speaking with Completesports.com, Unuanel stated that the Super Eagles are yet to reach the same level as France and Germany.

He said that the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr must improve the team technically in order to face the task ahead of the team.
“Watching the game between France and Germany made me have a change of thoughts that we are yet to reach the same level like these two teams.
“I was watching quality football at its very best and I think the Super Eagles can also play like this if Gernot Rohr improves the team technically. With the quality of players at his disposal, I see no reason why we can’t compete at the same level with some of the best teams in the world.” Unuanel concluded.

Rohr team can play 1 1 with Brazil today and loss to Madagascar tomorrow and play 4 4 with sierra Leone after tomorrow. That how good rohr can be..
why our people dream too much !! how are we going to attain france and german level in football. do you think skill or playing in europe is the only things in football in Nigeria. you forget we lack level of organization not even europe like small teams whales, scotland, slovakia level of organization.we can not even compare our level in term of organization in algeria, senegal, south africa, morrocco, egypt or cape verde.
Nigeria can compete with any team in the world with the standard of players we have now…Greece upset the so called big countries in 2004…South Korea did it in 2002, beating Portuguese itali on its way….so we can do it…All we need to do is to unleash the beast in the players….make them believe…make them confident…make them attack fearlessly…make them cover distances….make them attack the ball with passion whenever they lose the ball…make them run….make them disciplined….make them work as a unit….make them mark with attitude….Do all this and Nigeria will shock the world with the team we have now
This is what I said yesterday and I am very glad that this man is seeing what I’m seeing.

I hope Oga Rohr himself, Mr. Amaju and Oga Rohr followers are reading this.
The Mexico friendly means to prepare Super Eagles for the world cup qualifiers but why using our home based team for this friendly?
Excuses upon excuses without meaningful points. Twisting the situation of things as if we don’t know what the NFF is doing.
NFF is playing politics game that will hurt the image of our football.
Oga Rohr followers have no clues of what is going on right now and they are happy that Oga Rohr won’t be in charge of this friendly against Mexico but they don’t know that Eguavoen is technically and tactically sound than Oga Rohr.
How many years he spent with the Super Eagles before he won the Bronze medals?
You people should go on YouTube and watch Eguavoen matches. The way his team played against our opponents, the way he organized his team and the oppositions he played against but unlucky not to qualify for the world cup.
I am not in support of our home based team to confront Mexico but if Eguavoen is given the adequate support, he will do much better than our world class coach, a.k.a. Oga Rohr.
However, it a scam to use home based team against Mexico. NFF, the Master of the game are doing what they really good at.
NFF can’t rope me on this one because I am very sure about their plans against Nigeria.
NFF and Oga Rohr can brainwash Oga Rohr fans because they don’t know right from wrong and they have being trapped in this situation but for me, I omo9ja, mba, not today I am sorry.
If our foreign based players fail to play against Mexico, are they going to play one or two friendlies before the world cup qualifiers?
Is there any chance for Eagles to play a friendly after this one?
Kai, many of us are enjoy watching the ongoing Euro 2020 but when it comes to our own team SuperEagles, hmmmm lol. Wón ti gba penalty losi throw in be that oooo lolz.
World Cup qualifiers will soon be under way and I hope it will not be too late then to do something meaningful.
The wise man have spoken. Wake up Nigerians.
Fingers crossed. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
GERNOT ROHR has lost his track as long as im concern and the only way we can match and reach the level france germany portugal were at the moment is consistence first what do i mean by bein consistent i assume by now he is suppose to know who is in team the shape of the team consistence in players invitation put them togetther arrange high intensity friendly matches push their confidence level instal that winning attitude in them make them believe in themselves create competition among them make the competition look more tense it will bring out their full strength and as well raise their game
Nff is problem of Rohr, they don’t want to allow the man do his job. Just like when Nigeria rejected oga Jonathan and apppiont buhari. Corruption and politics go kill nff. Una wan be like Germany and France over night abi? Una eye go clear soon
We cant reach the level of France and Germany with gr incharge.nff should go for a coach if they want to get there. Gr is not klop he cant do more than what we are seen now.katsina United will never employ gr as a coach.
My friend go and check low is steel their coach after some good lost of games they did not sack him continuity is the key
I laff in swahili, they have started again, just read the same view by Amokachi on owngoal.com.
Do you folks think France and Germany just got to where they are now via a sudden flight, sorry my people. “The heights great men reached and sustained was not attained through a sudden flight but while their friends and mates slept, they kept on toiling, grinding and planning strategically through out the night”.
These countries have well built and oiled structures devoid of man-no-man, a player from Lobi stars must be invited, rub-my-back-i-rub-your-back, corruption etc, and these structures acts as a conveyor belt churning out talents year in year out with a solid support system to go with it to ensure a good chunk (>60%) of these talents fulfill their potentials on the long run and don’t just end up in some obscure Malaysian, Belarusian, Maltese league.
Abeg, make we stop to dey build castle in the air, once these structures are absent, success at the highest level would just be a flash in the pan (a one of thing) and obviously cannot be repetitive or become a continuum.
A good case study everyone always refer to is Greece winning the Euros back then, my question is what again have they won since that time, have they even come close to that feat again. If this happens to Greece with a seemingly an appreciable level of some reasonable organisation and planning, you can then imagine what is the lot of countries like Nigeria and its likes. Senegal with Mane and Koully and co, can’t even boast of repetitive success at the level of France and Germany.
Abeg, make we tone am down abeg. Bring a Klop or Pep to Nigeria under the same unstructured, unplanned system, highly corrupt and terrible working conditions that exist around the Super Eagles, i dare to say that he would fail and fail continuosly.
