Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhoumogbe has reiterated that the current Super Eagles squad are the team to beat at the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Aikhoumogbe made this known in an interview with Completesports.com from his Cairo base in Egypt, and lauded Super Eagles interim coach, Austine Eguavoen for the 28-man list that was recently released for the bi-annual tournament.
The former Nigeria youth international said that the list of invited players shows the technical ability of Eguavoen on the job.
He also warned the team not to focus much attention on Egypt, without showing respect for Sudan and Guinea-Bissau, who are Nigeria’s Group D opponents.
“There is no doubt that Eguavoen has shown his technical ability with the list of invited players he recently released for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
” I can categorically tell you that Nigeria are the team to beat in AFCON because we have capable players who are ready to make the country proud in Cameroon.
“Again, our attention should not be focused on Egypt but other teams in our group so that we can get the right.”

When A Whale sees sharks as good friends , then a tale of had I known better will become a bold misrepresentation. Beware Nigerians!!!
This period calls for psychological talks. Our ex players should endeavor to be in contact with SE players to psych them up, call them of the phone, they need psychological upgrade. Let them know it is doable. All they need now is a winning mentality, they should go out their and dominate proceedings right from the blast of the whistle.
Provided they don’t play the way Tottenham players plaid today.
Andrew Aikhoumogbe did not participate in 1980 nations cup.He played for the U17 team at Scotland 89 alongside Victor Ikpeba, jide oguntuwase,Bobo Edom,Godwin Okpara amongst others.
Ex internationals are the biggest problem of Naija football. How can you make such postulation with all the tumor around the team and the federation. He who fail to plan, Plan to fail.
U think is the players that played like that? May be the coach is not good and doesn’t have a winning mentality lol
Senegal might win afcon this time around I see their name written on d
Senegal are the team to beat go look at their squad
NOT LIKELY THEY MIGHT WASTE THE GOLDEN GENERATION JUST LIKE IVORY COAST DID.SHOULD I SAY LUCK IS ALWAYS AGAINST THEM OR THAT THEY LACK WINNING MENTALITY. BUT SINCERELY ON PAPER THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM .
To our coach, Austin Eguavoen, below is a suggested line up for you. kindly note the below will be altered if you have a fully fit Osemhen.
11.Ejuke. 9.Sadiq. 7.Dennis.
10.Nwakali 17.Iheanacho
4.Ndidi
3.Sanusi 6.Balogun 5.Omeruo 2.Nwaziem
1.Uzoho
It depends on who is leading the team(Coach). That is when you can proudly call it a team to beat.
This is psychological motivation fof Super Eagles players, but when you see SE pattern of play and quality of players and thier standards in clubs and SE like : William Troost , Balogun, Oneyka ; you can fear from SE midfield and center defence, cause thoes players alway committ an errors and lapses which lead the rival to score versus SE look at the match between SE versus Central Africa and versus Cape Verse also Seirra Leone you see an errors a kid dosen’t committ it or juvenile dosen’t committ it; so if the vetern coach Eguavoen would like to maintain and protect SE goal side he must potboil between Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo on center defence and potboil between Ndidi and Aribo if you play with 4-2-3-1 formation or put Aina,Awaziem,Sanusi and Ndidi,Aribo,Nawakali,Chukwueze,Ejuke-Sadiq Umar, Victor Osimhen with 3-5-2 formation then give instructions on all players must defend if SE lose the ball, give all players to keep the ball for a long time in order to control over the match then bedevils the rival’s account and then kills thier morales then you can beat them.So I think this a philosophy which Eguavoen should deal with it if he wanted that goal.
