Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has expressed delight with the performance of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) teams in this year’s continental competitions.
Recall that in the CAF Champions League, Rivers United defeated Liberian side Watanga FC 3-0 in the first leg of the qualifying game. While Plateau United were held to a 2-2 by Stade Mandji of Gabon in the CAF Champions League.
Also, Kwara United mauled AS Douanes 3-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup. Remo Stars drew 1-1 away to ASFAR in a CAF Confederation Cup tie at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah.
An excited Rufai, in an interview with Completesports.com stated that he’s happy with the results of NPFL clubs in Continental competition.

He however, warned against complacency and urged the clubs to get the job done in the second leg.
“I am sincerely happy and impressed with the performance of our teams in Africa club competition this year. It is an indication of better things to come for our clubs and I know it will be for the best.
“Yes, the first leg is has come and gone, however, the teams must be very careful and approach the second leg in a positive manner that will help them qualify to the next round.”
