Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel believes Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen’s market value will be high after winning the 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year Award.
Recall that the Nigerian international defeated the duo of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Morocco’s Hakimi to clinched the award.
Monday’s award capped off a sterling year for the Super Eagles forward whose historic feat in the imperial Moroccan city of Marakesh ended Nigeria’s 24-year-old wait for Africa’s top individual prize. Legendary Kanu Nwankwo was the last Nigerian to win the award and that was in 1999.

“This is a great achievement for Osimhen considering his efforts for Napoli last season and how he his goals help the team to win the Serie A title.
” Winning the Africa Footballer Of the Year Award is a great feat for him and this will definitely spur him to put more effort in his game for both club and country.
“I won’t be surprise if this award shoot up his market value when the transfer window opens in January. For sure, Osimhen has done himself a good favour and I am happy for him.”
