Former Nigerian international, Andrew Aikhoumogbe believes the injury setbacks hitting the Super Eagles’ preparation won’t affect their performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The team have lost Victor Boniface and Wilfred Ndidi to injury and are still hoping that Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar and Kelelchi Iheanacho get back to match fitness.
Recall that Nigeria is grouped alongside hosts, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
The Super Eagles will begin their quest at the tournament when they take on the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea in their opening group game on Sunday.

However, in a chat with Completesportsports.com, Aikhoumogbe stated that the team will fly high in AFCON 2023 regardless of the injury setbacks.
“The team may have been hit with injuries but I am confident that it won’t affect the performance of the Super Eagles at the tournament proper.
“Missing players like Bioniface and Ndidi may be seen as a big blow, however, with the calibre of players used as their replacement, I am optimistic Nigeria will overcome their opponents.
“My main focus is the opening game against Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria must ensure they pick the three points before facing Ivory Coast.”
