Former Nigeria international Moses Kpakor says he is unsure of the Super Eagles’ chances of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The AFCON 2023 will take place in Cote D’Ivoire between January 13 and February 11 in 2024.
The Super Eagles are in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equitorial Guinea.
However the team’s underwhelming 1-1 draw against Lesotho on November 16 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and after playing out another 1-1 stalemate with Zimbabwe three days later at the Huye Stadium has the fans disappointed.
In an interview with completesports.com, Kpakor seemed uncertain as to whether the team could impress at the tournament.
“Thinking that the Super Eagles will win the next Afcon is not in my mind,” Kpakor said.
“Because we are still far to the competition. So for now after the Eagles get to the tournament and from there begin to progress from one game to another until we reach the last eight.
“Only from there will I start to think or rank Eagles as potential champions. Well the Eagles have started on a not too convincing note but I am optimistic that they will soon get things right and return to winning ways.

“Sometimes a team does not start too well but at the end it picks form and develops the winning mentality.”
The Jose Peseiro-led side will take on Equitorial Guinea in their first match of the forthcoming AFCON on January 14 at the Alassane Outtara Stadium.
AFCON 2023 was originally supposed to take place in the summer of 2023 but it was postponed due to the adverse summer weather conditions in Ivory Coast.

I don’t know why people had already condemned Super Eagles because of two draws.
It is well for these Nigerians.
