Former Nigerian international, Alloy Agu believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to compete for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title.
Recall that Nigeria have been grouped alongside host, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in group A.
With the team having played two friendly games, drawing Saudi Arabia 2-2 and defeating Mozambique 3-2, Agu while reacting to their performances, told Completesports.com that the Super Eagles have the players to compete for the AFCON title.
“I am optimistic the Super Eagles can compete for the AFCON title going by the games they have played so far. I have impressed with the calibre of players in the team and I am confident the team will make the country proud.

“The friendly games will afford the coach to identify areas that needs to be perfected and I am happy with the results of those games.”
Nigeria last faced Cote d’Ivoire at the tournament in 2013 as the Nigerian side ran out 2-1 victors in the quarter-finals and en route to lifting the continental trophy.
The Super Eagles had lost to Guinea-Bissau in the qualification race for the competition but topped the group standing.
They had also faced them in the last edition of the AFCON held in Cameroon last year. Nigeria defeated them 2-0.

Mail just beat the same Saudi 1-3, this AFCON is sure not sure for anybody.
Captin Alloy Agu winning this title in Cote De’ Ivore is not easy one for Super Eagles, cause coach peseiro is not caring so much on defensive side, Peseiro has offensive mentality style of play,so I recommend NFF technical committee to meet Peseiro then must order him to play with strict and rigorous on defensive midfield and back line, he must summon Al Hassan Ibrhim or Anderson Esiti to solidfy with them defensive midfield which SE have been lacking since along time; summon strong, agile goalkeeper like Anaigbosso or Arthur Okonkwo; Uzoho is shaky, flopped and blunderer goalkeeper , so NFF technical committee can recommend Peseiro to exculde him from SE squad, then he can summon Aniagbosso and Okonkwo in the next World Cup 2026 qualifier on november 13 to 20 SE versus Lethoto and Zimbabwe until AFCON. final in Cote De’Ivore january 2024.
Uzoho is not good enough at all. l wonder why Esiti has never been tried up till now. having watch the 2 games with an Eagle eye, l came to the conclusion that we may not get there with a goalkeeper like Uzoho. He just hasn’t got it anymore.
