Former Nigerian striker, Jonathan Akpoborie has kicked against the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prosecute the forthcoming international friendly game against Mexico with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players.
Recall that a 25-man list that has the likes of goalkeepers John Noble, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, and Anayo Iwuala was announced on Sunday by the technical crew ahead of the friendly game that will hold inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 3.
The game is expected to serve as a preparatory ground for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Reacting to the development, the former Wolfsburg star told Completesports.com that the NFF has defeated the essence of organizing the friendly game for the Super Eagles.

He noted that prosecuting the match with the NPFL was a wrong move that could affect the team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia in September. He s
“I am really disappointed with the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prosecute the international friendly game against Mexico with players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“For me, the whole essence of organizing the game was to keep the foreign-based players in shape ahead of the World Cup qualifiers. But it appears the purpose has been defeated by this move. I am not saying that the home-based players are not good enough for the encounter,” Akpoborie concluded.

Please tell them o. Especially the ones always rooting for home based players in the national team. Forgetting the number of times are home based players were fielded in a match and they simply went to sleep.

qualifying for world cup is not an issue as all the team to play are micky mouse team. the issue is building super eagles to win cup in tournaments.
