Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Alloy Agu says he’s optimistic the Flying Eagles can triumph over Argentina in today’s 2023 U-20 World Cup round of 16 clash.
The Flying Eagles will have to be at their best to neutralise Argentina’s home support and firepower. Past Argentina U-20 squads have produced remarkable players like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.
In their group games, Argentina won all three games against Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and New Zealand; scoring 10 goals while conceding just once.
This is in contrast to the Flying Eagles, who scored just four and conceded three in the group stage. While the game could go either way, Bosso will need to get his boys up to speed if they are to navigate past the Argentines.
In a chat with Agu, he told Completesports.com that though the Flying Eagles face a difficult task but that he’s optimistic Nigeria will triumph over them today.
“I am very optimistic the Flying Eagles will shock Argentina right in front of their home supporters if they can hold their own in the early minutes of the game.
“For sure, the Argentines will want to put Nigeria under pressure by attacking them but then, our players are aware of the importance of the game and will hit them hard where it matters most.
“Again, the Flying Eagles will shock Argentina at home regardless of their antics.”

This guy is always talking! Why can’t these guys shut up for once
because they have sense!?
As a Nigerian Myself I must say even i find the constant boasting from these people vert distasteful… it would make sense if they were not responsible for the downward trajectory of our ball but they are. it is almost as if these people live in dream land sometimes Mtcheeew!!! can you imagine, the over confidence in the home of footballs world champions and LIonel Messi?. Nawa ooooooooo
hahahahahahaah!!! SO WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW!!!?????
It is people like you who is the problem with Nigeria. Nigerians lack self esteem. Who is Messi? And after all, Nigeria beat Argentina at home to make Quarter finals
Nigeria’s former internationals are mostly unintelligent Maybe their brains are in calf muscles which hardened during their playing career
REALLY!!!! YOU OWE AGU A MAJOR APOLOGY!!!
Nigeria can shock Argentina. However, the problem is Nigeria can also shock Nigeria. Refer to the last match, where we generously donated 2 goals to Brazil inside a 4 minute time frame. A winnable game was lost because of 2 goals conceded that were preventable, and missed chances to score ourselves. We were also a tad unfortunate, as 2 efforts ricocheted of the Brazil bar. If those had gone in, the outcome of the game might have been different.
So will Nigeria shock the Argies, or will Nigeria shock Nigeria? Which will it be?
Some of you here always think you are the smartest, just right there in front of your keyboards. These guys are not dumb, they played the game, and they surely know it will be difficult for the boys to overcome the Argentines. But definitely, what these boys need right is some confidence, and the least those ex-players can do from here is to talk them up. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I mean, we see this often in the more developed countries.
Thank you Ade, first very sensible response
Best wishes to the boys.
A tough match,it will be, but we can come out victorious if we make less mistakes.
For me this is not a team that intends to win. Just a bunch of guys playing for a attraction of scouts. The individualism makes it difficult for them to play as a unit. They got lucky with just two from Brazil. It should have been more. Except there is a change or luck in play I don’t see them scaling past Argentina.
We will win 2-1 watch out
Who is awake? We have won as predicted. We move!!!
lol! you missed by one goal! nice try…your confidence is unbelievable!
