Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhoumogbe has advised the Flying Eagles to maintain 100% level of concentration if they are to overcome host, Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2023 U-20 World Cup.
Recall that Nigeria qualified via the beat loser spot after finishing third in their group that of Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic.
Nigeria opened their campaign on a winning note after overcoming Dominican Republic 2-1, defeated Italy 2-0, before losing 2-0 to Brazil in their final group game.
However, with the team set to face Argentina in the Round of 16, Akhoumogbe in a chat with Completesports.com, urged the Flying Eagles not sit back and absorb pressure from Argentina.
He also warned the team to maintain a high level of concentration and avoid making silly mistakes at the back
Playing against the host, Argentina no doubt will be a very tough battle for Nigeria considering how the Argentines qualified to this stage of the competition.
*As host, they will bring out every trick to ensure that they get the better of Nigeria, which I know will be displayed in the early part of the game.
“Our players must maintain a high level of concentration and avoid making silly mistakes at the backline. The Flying Eagles must be ready to punish Argentina once they get that scoring opportunities.”
