Former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babangida has warned the Super Eagles to be more determined if they are to overcome the trio of Sao Tome, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Recall that the Super Eagles failed to get past the Round of 16 in the last edition of the tournament that was hosted by Cameroon this year.
However, the three-time AFCON champions, who will be hoping to redeem their image after failing to also qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, will commenced their campaign against Sierra Leone in June.
In a chat with Completesports.com, the former Ajax star stated that the team must display that hunger and determination if they are to beat their opponents.
He said that no teams will come easy for the Super Eagles and that they must be ready for the tough challenges.
“I must confess to you that Africa football has grown beyond those days when you can regard a team minnows. The Super Eagles must do the needful if they are to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
“No team will be afraid to face the Super Eagles regardless of the array of stars we parade in our disposal. But then, the team can restore that fear factor again if they impose their authority in games and finish up games as quickly as possible.
“The truth is that Sao Tome, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau will not be an easy ride for the Super Eagles.”

All this ex internationals sef thier mates in other countriesare becoming chairmen of of thier various fa they are here causing confusion in super eagles
Which or what confusion have they cause? Tijani is only advicing the SE to be cautious and determined in facing these African countries in the AFCON qualifies to avoid another disaster and you are here talking trash!
Tony, you asked me on another thread if something is wrong with bicycle kick.
If he had controlled the ball, he could either have had a better shooting chance, or a Ghana defender could have made contact, resulting in a spot kick.
Bottom line is our strikers need to be calmer and more composed in front of goal.
WE NEED TO BE MORE RUTHLESS IN TAKING CHANCES THAT COME OUR WAY.
ONE MISSED CHANCE COULD COST YOU BIG TIME.
If Nigeria cannot qualify from this group i will suggest Fifa bans the team for a minimum of 10 years…..
If you would like to fear African teams you must be determined and dicipline on these matches playing strongly and press on these teams especially tiny teams; playing with grand teams must be on technically and tactically best situation.
