Former Nigerian midfielder, Tijani Babangida has urged the Super Eagles to be more careful in their approach ahead of their 2022 World Cup playoff against the Black Stars of Ghana slated for March.
Tijani made this assertion on the backdrop of their performance at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria crashed out in the Round of 16 after losing 1-0 to Tunisia.
On the other hand, Ghana were eliminated from the Group stages after finishing bottom of their group without a victory.
In an interview with Completesports.com, Tijani stated that the battle of the two West Africans always bring out the best from both teams.
However, he noted that the Super Eagles would have learnt from their AFCON mistakes and want to change the narrative against the Black Stars of Ghana.
“There is no doubt that the upcoming clash between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana will be a tough battle for both teams considering the rivalry between them,’ Tijani, a former member of the Dream Team that won gold medal at the Atlanta Olympic Games told Completesports.com.
“Having watched the performance of the Black Stars and the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, I am confident that Nigeria look more superior than their opponent in terms of play and players involved.
“However, the Nigerian coach must be careful in their approach and tactics if they must overcome Ghana in both legs of the World Cup playoff.”

Invite Obinna Nwobodo and play him on the right while moses Simon plays on the left. Obinna Nwobodo is the like for replacement for VM. Let Chukweze sit on the bench and learn how to improve on his last ball. Nwobodo reminds me of Finidi and Nwankwo Kanu because of his superb last ball. A combination of Simon, Osigoal, Nwobodo in attack then
Ndidi, Oyenkachi, Aribo( no 10) in midfield will be too hot to handle by any team in the world even less Ghana
You guys have started again with invite this and that. We are yet to come from the previous mess
You guys have started o. Some clowns were the ones shouting that awoniyi, umar, olayinka, Nwakali should be introduced to the super eagles team for us to succeed. How did that pan out? Epic failure
DESSER would have been more prolific in front of goal.
@Dennis… You are confused man. Is Olayinka, Awoniyi & Nwakali why you crashed out? Don’t go and confront yiur reality… Lol. Iwobi wey collect Red card, Maduka a Pumpido wey collect one goal with one shot… Keep playing clown to yourself!
If performance of SE players at the AFCON is used as a yardstick for players selection. All the regular starter and few ones who did well will be considered(if they are active in their clubsides). The team can be strengthened with the inclusion Balo, VM, VO, Dennis, Amoo, Adeleye, Olise, Lookman, Alhassan Yusuf, Etebo, Bassey, and Desser..
Selection should be based on current form.
The whole team’s attitude is also a problem.
Players come to camp as if camp is vacation. Instagram pics, vlogs, parties.
Maybe we should change their name from Super Eagles to Instagram Boys.
Until Pinnick pays up the money Nigeria owes Rohr there is no way Nigeria can qualify for the World Cup. The whole world knows about the injustice suffered by the Germsn in Nigeria and FIFA will not let brigandage go unpunished
If Super Eagles would like to ascend to Qatar Eguavoen must recall Usman Mohammed and Alhassan Ibrahim as they are strong defensive midfielders to assit Ndidi ; also Eguavoen must play with tow defensive midfielders like Ndidi and Usman Mohammed also must instruct thoes tow midfielders to be still on thier function that means they must not move forwrd more and more , they must play on center midfield and must cover Ghanain forwards and press on them ferociouly and combatively.
