Former Rangers forward Iain Ferguson has backed Cyriel Dessers to smash 40 goals for the Light Blues next season.
Dessers scored 22 goals in his debut season at the Ibrox even though he was written off by Rangers fans after his arrival at the club.
The Nigeria international was also guilty of missing gilt-edged chances.
The 29-year-old was forced to lead the line himself for the majority of the year due to big-money signing Danilo’s long-term injury.

“Everything now is about stats and if you look at his (Dessers), they’re good. Scoring 22 goals is a respectable total. Plenty of strikers would be happy for that in a season. If he took penalties, he’d be around 30,” Ferguson told Scottish Sun.
“And having got to know Scottish football and what he’s up against, if he has a better strike rate, he could go out next season and get 40. Of course, everything you hear about him is that he gets a lot of chances and misses them. But that applies to a lot of strikers. Maybe he hasn’t scored as many as he and a lot of supporters would have liked.
“But the Rangers centre forward’s jersey is a big one to fill and that’s why I think he’s not had a bad season. What I like about the fella is that he stands up to be counted. There’s plenty about him to admire. He doesn’t hide if he’d having a bad day. He always gives 100 per cent, he puts a shift in and he gets himself into positions.
“If you look back over the season, he’s scored goals in big games – the double in the semi-final that got Rangers through to the Scottish Cup final, against Servette in the Champions League, away to Betis in the Europa League.
“But I work in the lounges on match days and the one thing you can guarantee is that if you have a group of guys round a table, you’ll get vastly differing opinions. You’ll never get agreement among supporters and that’s been the case with Dessers.
“I always get asked about him, but you have to remember he’s been asked to lead the line for Rangers on his own more often than not. When Danilo came in, he looked a slightly more natural goalscorer, but it could be that when he’s back fit they can work as a pairing.”

Is it only 40? Or you made a mistake and left the hundred before the forty because he is not going to score only 40, he is scoring 140 in just one season o! mark this guy’s words lol
And moreover, all jokes aside, even if he scores the 49 in one season at Rangers, it is exactly just that – At Rangers! As poor as the Nigerian premier league competition is, I can guarantee you that any of the teams in our top league can give Rangers wotowoto, so step aside this guy and don’t give CSN the ammunition now to start trying to force Dessers (who is a nice bloke btw) down the SE selectors throats – not that those ones are even faring any better on their own, so to better capture the feeling, stop pouring kerosene on an already blazing furnace! We know how you are with all your sensational headlines:
