Former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is now teammate with Samuel Chukwueze after he was announced as a Villareal player on Wednesday.
The LaLiga side confirmed Coquelin’s signing in a statement released on their official website.
The French player joined Villareal from Valencia on a four-year deal.
The statement from Villareal read: “Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Valencia CF for the transfer of Francis Coquelin, who will play for the Yellows for the next four seasons.
“The official presentation of the French midfielder will be this Thursday at 12pm CEST in the Function Room in the Preferencia Stand (access by Gate 31), in an event only open to press.
“Francis Joseph Coquelin (Laval, France, 13th May 1991) is a defensive midfielder, who stands out because of his positioning, physical capabilities and interception ability.
“The French footballer joins from Valencia CF, where he has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons. He played 89 games for them, scoring once and providing three assists. Before moving to LaLiga, Coquelin played for Arsenal FC, Charlton Athletic, SC Freiburg and FC Lorient.
“The new Villarreal player has a number of trophies to his name. He lifted the Copa del Rey with Valencia and won two FA Cups and two Community Shields with the Gunners.”
Coquelin will be working under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery who was replaced by Mikel Arteta.
