The right-back, who has been with Everton since the age of nine, made 12 first-team appearances for the Toffees in 2018/19 but has usually had to play second fiddle to Seamus Coleman since making his debut in 2016. Kenny told Schalke’s official website: “It is a big chance for me, to come to a new country and show off my abilities, especially at a big club like Schalke.
“Schalke 04 is a club with a long history and fantastic fans. I am happy to be here and can’t wait to get up and running with the team.” Kenny, who still has three years left to run on his Everton contract, was part of England’s Under-20 World Cup-winning team of 2017. He joins a growing trend of English players heading to the Bundesliga. It includes current England international Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, while Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Hoffenheim. Schalke finished 14th in the Bundesliga last season.
